IIChE Kochi Hosts Training on Efficient Plant Operations

The Kochi Regional Centre of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) successfully conducted a crucial training programme titled ‘Practical Approach Towards Efficient Operation of Industrial Plants’ on 8 April 2024. This initiative was specifically designed to enhance the operational skills and knowledge base of Process and Production Staff working within the region’s industrial sector. The comprehensive training sessions were held at the Productivity House in Kalamassery.

The event commenced with a formal inauguration ceremony, graced by Shri. Nithish Devaraj, Joint Director of Factories and Boilers. Shri. Devaraj delivered the inaugural address, underscoring the vital role of skilled, efficient operations staff in maintaining industry competitiveness and adherence to rigorous safety and environmental standards. His address served as a powerful reminder of the responsibilities of the process and production personnel and the necessity of continuous learning and skill refinement in their demanding roles.

The training curriculum was strategically structured to provide actionable, real-world knowledge, with a direct focus on practical application in manufacturing and processing environments. Topics covered in depth included methods for optimising equipment performance, advanced techniques for troubleshooting standard process deviations, and strategies for implementing effective predictive maintenance schedules. By adopting a practical approach, the IIChE Kochi Regional Centre successfully reinforced its commitment to bridging the gap between theoretical chemical engineering principles and the day-to-day operational realities faced by industrial professionals.
