Distinguished Lecture Programme on Smart Batteries and Energy Harvesters

The Kochi Regional Centre of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) recently organised its prestigious Distinguished Lecture Programme (DLP), providing members with expert insights into the rapidly advancing field of sustainable energy storage. It is the second DLP of the year 2024. The event featured Dr. Prasanth Raghavan, Professor & Head of the Department of Polymer Science and Technology at CUSAT (Cochin University of Science and Technology), as the distinguished speaker.

The lecture, held at Hotel Seapark, South Kalamassery, focused on the critical topic of ‘Smart Batteries and Energy Harvestors.’ Dr. Raghavan elaborated on the next generation of energy storage solutions that move beyond conventional batteries. He discussed the innovative use of polymer science and advanced materials in developing batteries that are lighter, safer, faster-charging, and more environmentally friendly.
