The Expert Talk featured on ‘Decarbonisation of the Chemical Industry in India’ delivered by Shri. Sajo K. F., General Manager of FACT Ltd., at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Government Engineering College, Thrissur.

Sajo K. F., General Manager at FACT Ltd., drawing on his vast experience in a major fertiliser and chemical enterprise, Shri. Sajo K. F. provided an authoritative and practical overview of the necessary transition for the sector. His talk explored the complex pathways India’s chemical industry must adopt to achieve net-zero emissions, including strategies such as adopting Green Hydrogen as a feedstock and fuel, electrifying energy-intensive processes, and implementing Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) technologies.

The program sparked a lively discussion among attendees, highlighting the massive capital investment, technological innovation, and policy support required to overhaul the industry’s reliance on fossil fuels. By hosting the DLP on this theme, the IIChE Kochi Regional Centre underscored its commitment to promoting dialogue on future technologies and ensuring that the chemical engineering community remains at the forefront of environmental stewardship and sustainable industrial growth in Kerala and the nation.
